Il libro tratta un vasto ventaglio di argomenti, affiancando alla trattazione delle serie temporali anche materiale sulle catene di Markov e i processi di punti, non solo dal punto di vista della probabilità, ma anche da quello della statistica e della previsione; contiene anche una trattazione nel dominio delle frequenze. Inoltre può essere letto a diversi livelli di approfondimento, perché oltre a presentare i vari argomenti, la loro logica e le potenzialità applicative, ne fornisce anche una giustificazione teorica e matematica. Vengono proposti due percorsi, l'uno adatto a un corso introduttivo per la laurea triennale, l'altro a un corso completo per la laurea specialistica o il dottorato.

In dit eindwerk zijn de resultaten te vinden van het onderzoek dat gedaan is naar ongevallen tijdens de les LO in Vlaanderen. Om dit mogelijk te maken is er gewerkt met een onderzoekssite op het Internet. De opzet van het onderzoek was om een beeld te krijgen van de meest voorkomende en ingrijpende ongevallen tijdens de lessen LO in Vlaanderen. Aan de hand hiervan zou er nagegaan worden of alle ongevallen die zich voordoen tijdens de les LO kunnen gesitueerd worden in het schema in verband met ongevaloorzaken van Van Assche, W. Vervolgens zou een verwerking van de resultaten meer inzicht kunnen geven in het al dan niet frequent voorkomen van ongevallen, en de aard en oorzaak ervan. Nadat het onderzoek is uitgevoerd kon de conclusie getrokken worden dat, ondanks de grote mate van verspreiding van het onderzoek, toch nog maar een klein aantal leerkrachten deelgenomen had aan het onderzoek, en dat er na selectie hiervan, nog slechts éénderde overbleef. Toch was het aantal relevante antwoorden nog dusdanig groot dat er een redelijk betekenisvolle verwerking van de resultaten gedaan kon worden. Hieruit bleek dat het schema rond ongevaloorzaken van Van Assche voldoende was om de oorzaken van dit onderzoek in te kaderen. Ook bleek uit het onderzoek dat de meeste merkwaardige ongevallen zich voordeden tijdens balsportlessen, maar ook hoogspringen en honkbal bleken risicoactiviteiten. De jaren ervaring van de leerkrachten bleken duidelijk verband te houden met het aantal ongevallen, en er bleek dat leerkrachten met minder dan tien jaar ervaring de grootste kans op ongevallen in hun lessen LO hadden. Contributing to the development and the enrichment of the European dimension in Engineering Education (EE), constituted the global goal of TREE. In other words to enhance the compatibility of the many diverse routes to the status of Professional Engineer which exist in Europe and, hence, to facilitate greater mobility of skilled personnel and integration of the various situations throughout Europe. The activity of the TN TREE, made up by some 110 higher education Institutions and Associations, has been developed along four main lines: A. the tuning line B. the education and research line C. the attractiveness of EE line D. the sustainability line This volume, accompanied by a CD Rom, presents the results of three years of works in the frame of the Thematic Network TREE which was activated and financed in the frame of the SOCRATES Programme in the period 2004-2007.

The present book is a collection of essays exploring some classical dimensions of mind both from the perspective of an empirically-informed philosophy and from the point of view of a philosophically-informed psychology. In the last three decades, the level of interaction between philosophy and psychology has increased dramatically. As a contribution to this trend, this book explores some areas in which this interaction has been very productive – or, at least, highly provocative. The interaction between philosophy and psychology can be of different kinds. For example, psychology can be the subject for philosophy of science. In such a case, the philosopher of science pursues the usual set of issues (explanation, reduction, etc.) within the special case of psychology. Or, philosophy can be the source of proposals for improving psychology. Vice versa, the findings of psychology can be used to criticize philosophical theories and suggest ways to resolve some traditional philosophical questions about the mind, such as the nature of mental representation, perception, emotion, memory, consciousness and free will. The chapters in this book reflect these different forms of interaction in an effort to clarify issues and debates concerning some traditional cognitive capacities. The result is a philosophically and scientifically up-to-date collection of "cartographies of the mind".
